For most of last year, we wrote one launch post a week for this SaaS. Forty-eight weeks in a row, the same structure: hero image, ten feature bullets, a customer quote pulled from a Slack thread, a CTA at the bottom. They averaged 240 unique readers and zero new sign-ups.
Then I looked at the inbound that was actually converting. The seven sign-ups we got in April had all arrived from blog posts I would have called boring at the time. Posts with titles like “Why our pricing changed twice” and “What I got wrong about onboarding in the first month.” Posts where I named the specific trade-off — not the specific feature.
I rewrote April’s content calendar to mirror that. We cut the launch posts entirely. We replaced them with one to two posts a week answering a question a customer had actually sent us in the last month, sourced from email rather than from a calendar brainstorm. In the next quarter we added six paying customers on zero paid acquisition.
